Festivale Riondo

Come celebrate with the prosecco that started it all

In the foothills of Mount Riondo back in the Roman era, farmers and town’s people celebrated a joyous harvest festival. At the heart of the revelry was a wonderful beverage they called “welcoming wine.” Travelers came from all across the Veneto Region. They played bocce, watched puppet shows and enjoyed incredible foods and pastas. Soon this popular wine was being served at the powerful tables of Italy’s elite.

Today we celebrate National Prosecco Day and its official wine, Riondo Prosecco, still made from the same Glera grapes grown all those centuries ago. What started in the tiny town of Prosecco is now a source of pride for Italians everywhere. Their delightfully bubbly wine even outsells Champagne and the original festival has become an official celebration the world over.
